Both sides had spectacular showings in the short program, highlighted by flawless performances fromAmber Glenn,Alysa LiuandIsabeau Levito. The three sit at the top of the women's standings, and arethe Olympic hopefulswell-positioned to make the team for Milano Cortina.
The reigning champion pair ofAlisa Efimova and Misha Mitrofanovhave a healthy lead in first. Still, the chance to represent Team USA appears to be wide open, and a strong free skate could be the difference in making theOlympic squad.
