Bishop Manogue hits a lot of home runs — three of the top five sluggers in the league play for the Miners — and they hit three more on Wednesday.
The biggest blast ended the game. Freshman Olivia Rodriguez poked the ball over the center field fence for a two-run blast to walk off Reed, 6-5, in the 5A-North Regional playoffs.
Also on Wednesday, Spanish Springs downed Douglas, 12-2, to set up a winners' bracket game against the Miners. In the Cougars' win, Izzy Chisholm was 2-for-2 with four RBIs and freshman Izzy Correa was 3-for-3 with an RBI.
The two teams play at 4 p.m. Thursday.
Manogue also got home runs from Kiki Harris, who leads the league with 11; and Averie Stephan. Harris was 2-for-3 in the game and had a double off the wall in right.
Manogue senior pitcher Sammi Boggs pitched all seven innings, allowing six hits and striking out 10.
Manogue coach Chris King said it was a matter of not getting overwhelmed, even after Reed took a 5-3 lead in the sixth inning.
"We've just go to keep our composure, because we let a lot of opportunities slip," King said. "We've got to keep at it, keep at it."
He said Rodriguez has come through all season in big moments.

Reed will host McQueen at 4 p.m. Thursday in the double-elimination Regional tournament.
